One of the pieces in the textile collection at Museum Of Fine Arts in Boston is a Jamdani saree, gifted by art collector and historian Denman Waldo Ross back in 1927. Created between the 18th and 19th centuries, it features a red-and-gold border of diamond patterns with a central dot (symbolic to peacock’s eye) and temple motifs. This pattern is said to be one of the oldest designs of the Jamdani, which originated in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
